Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported the deal, which also includes a $14m vesting option for a fourth year.

Davis is in a fantastic situation, with the Rockies bullpen already loaded.

This would mark another major bullpen signing for the Rockies this offseason as the team agreed to terms with former Cleveland Indians reliever Bryan Shaw during the Winter Meetings.

Of course, the move means righty Greg Holland will not return to Denver after posting 41 saves in 2017, not a tremendous loss since he exhausted out in the second half in his first year back from Tommy John surgery.

The Rockies offseason has shown they are taking care of a vital need, beefing up that all-important bullpen. McGee and Shaw will now team up with pitchers like Chris Rusin and Mike Dunn to give the Rockies a formidable group of setup men pitching in front of Davis.

With a deep bullpen, Black can pull his starters after five or six innings and then hand the reins over to a relief trifecta that can hold its own and then some. The details of his contract with the Rockies are still unclear.

Davis didn't earn quite as much on the open market as closers like Aroldis Chapman and Kenley Jansen did previous year.

Holland made $15 million this year, but he did not exercise the $15 million player option after the 2017 season. That was the lowest in Royals history by a reliever, which broke his record from the 2014 season (1.00).

After the Rockies reached the wild-card game in 2017, expectations will be high heading into 2018.
