Social media had plenty of fun with the news she was up for the gig again with one Twitter user writing, "Mariah Carey's flop on New Year's Eve this year was literally the best thing that happened in 2017 and I can't wait to see her do it again in 3 days".

"I would just like to point out that Mariah Carey's new year's performance was the highlight of this year".

Ryan Seacrest has been hosting Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve live in Times Square since the end of 2005 and his girlfriend Shayna Taylor doesn't mind that he'll be working at the stroke of midnight.

Joining Carey, per ABC, in New York City will be Camila Cabello, Nick Jonas and Sugarland.

Lucy Hale will host the Central time zone countdown from New Orleans, where Imagine Dragons and Walk the Moon will perform.

New Year's Rockin' Eve has been a New Year's Eve television staple.

You may remember that she headlined the festivities last New Year's and she stopped singing multiple times throughout her set of songs. This year, she returns to redeem herself and Seacrest told Us Weekly, "Here's the thing". The West Coast broadcast, much of which was pre-taped around the American Music Awards, includes performances by Kelly Clarkson, Kane Brown, Portugal, the Man, BTS, Khalid, Marshmello, Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth, Fitz & the Tantrums, Alessia Cara, Alesso, Florida Georgia Line, G-Eazy, Halsey, Bebe Rexha, Hailee Steinfeld, watt and Zedd. The special also will be live on Facebook, as well as the network's live streaming and on demand subscription service Univision Now.

The official Times Square 2018 webcast: The ninth annual live webcast will feature special guest Tarana Burke, founder of the #MeToo movement and performances by pop singer Andy Grammer and country singer Lauren Alaina. The rapper will join Univision's live coast-to-coast telecast featuring performances from top music and entertainment celebrities, as he performs global party anthems from his hometown, Miami, FL.
