  • YouTube Cuts Business Ties With Social Media Star Logan Paul After Suicide Video Controversy

YouTube has officially dropped Logan Paul as a preferred ad partner and begun removing him from projects in the wake of the controversy surrounding his "Suicide Forest" video. YouTube also cancelled the planned sequel to his 2016 YouTube Red movie "The Thinning". The Thinning: New World Order is now in limbo after it was to be released this year.

YouTube also asks other video creators who build their community on YouTube to be more responsible while posting anything on the platforms as they say - "We expect more of the creators who build their community on @YouTube, as we're sure you do too".

Per ABC News, Google removed Paul from the Google Preferred premier ad service that lets top brand advertisers connect with top YouTube producers.

Paul now has three YouTube Red projects that are all on hold, Logan Paul Vs. and The Thinning - New World Order and he will be written off of Foursome.

They have removed Paul from Google Preferred - which essentially aggregates Paul's channel to big advertisers and makes him tons of money. The move to cut ties with the vlogger comes just days after the company actually issued its own statement on the incident.

YouTube extends official apology for Logan Paul video. It reiterated that suicide was not a laughing matter and added that it should not be "a driving force for views". Before last year's Upfronts, YouTube's better-than-TV pitch was already marred by rare but jarring combinations of wholesome brand marketing and offensive videos.

In his apology, Paul said the video was a "huge mistake".

Ultimately, YouTube stated that Paul's video "violated" the platform's community guidelines and confirmed that it was "looking at further consequences". The authorities were called, and the video closed with Paul briefly mentioning suicide prevention. Paul issued a tepid apology, and then another, and then announced he'd be going offline for the time being. YouTube's response was not initially met kindly by people on social media, with many again calling for the deletion of Logan's channel. It's hard to get worse than filming a dead body for views, but apparently Logan Paul likes a challenge.

One does not simply walk into Japan's suicide forest, film a recent suicide victim, upload the video, apologise for it, and walk away unscathed.
