Gmail and Outlook are affected, while Telegram and Skype are not. The error is caused when the default San Francisco font across Apple devices tries to render the Telugu characters, PCMag quoted Aloha Browser as saying in a tweet. The only way to make to your iMessages work properly is to delete the entire conversation with the bad character by having someone else send a text message to the app that is crashing.

That, of course, could prove to be a problem. Apple users will be unable to open their message app once the bug has been sent. The update also advises developers to ensure their current apps are X-compatible and take advantage of its new features and those in iOS 11.

Responding to iMore, Apple has said that a bug fix is coming in a minor update that will be rolled out ahead of iOS 11.3.

The bug is the latest in a string of troubles Apple has faced in recent months as it tries to improve the stability of its mobile operating system.

Existing apps can continue to be built with some older versions of the iOS and watchOS SDKs, but Apple will stop accepting apps built with the watchOS 1 SDK on April 1, as well.

More news: Forecast: More pleasant weather likely for weekend

The most recent bug in iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra allows one to send a specific character to crash the devices. In May 2015, the "Effective Power" vulnerability - set into motion by receiving a "Unicode of Death" text message - was found to cause iPhones to repeatedly crash.

It isn't the first time a text message can crash an iPhone. Another similar flaw was discovered in 2016 that would disable Messages.

Apple has dominated the mobile market for a long time now and not many companies have been able to come close to its influence in the tech market. Indeed, according to tests it'll crash the macOS versions of Safari and Messages, too.

Apple has acknowledged that the iOS 11.2.5 has a serious bug and it was working on to fix it.
