While Asus has not brought a phone directly here in a few years a lot of people do acquire them through grey market importers so we have made a decision to touch on them.

The last big conference from MWC 2018 has just concluded and Asus took the final spotlight to introduce the first three phones of the latest ZenFone 5 line up. Hopefully we can get our hands on one to check it out.

It features an edge-to-edge display with an iPhone X-like notch at the top, and the elephant in the room is how much this looks like Apple's top-end handset. In a way, Asus is right.

APPLE'S new iPhone X has a really unique design that's proved divisive - but one phone maker has borrowed the controversial style for its latest handset, and The Sun has been given an early look. The front is largely dominated by a massive 6.2-inch screen with a resolution of Full HD+ and brightness of 500 nits. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 430 and will be available in 2GB/16GB, 2GB/32GB and 3GB/32GB variants. That's just shy of the iPhone X's 19.5:9 aspect ratio, but both screens appear to be almost as narrow as each other. Running Android Oreo with ZenUI 5.0 on top, the device comes equipped with a dual camera setup. There is also NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, FM radio, an audio jack, and support for Hi-Res audio and DTS. The Asus ZenFone Max (M1) is very similar to the ZenFone Max Plus (M1) that was launched in Russian Federation last year, before being made available in the United States earlier this year. There's a thing called AI display, which functions like True Tone on the iPhone X; AI boost, which overclocks certain apps; and AI charging, which tops the phone up with 80 percent charge at night then proceeds to charge all the way up to 100 percent upon the user's wake-up time. It also comes with the popular face unlock feature along with some beautification features. However, Asus hasn't mentioned the megapixel count of both the secondary cameras.

The Zenfone 5 is powered by a newer midrange processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, with configurations of 4GB RAM/64GB storage and 6GB RAM/64GB of storage. Asus has also offered Face Unlock feature via its front camera.

The new ZenFone 5Z is backed by a 3300mAh battery that comes along with support for AI Charging technology.

Unfortunately they will be unlikely to make it to our shores officially but if you are interested hit up all the usual grey market importers and try your luck. On the Camera side it has a 16MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 0.03-second PDAF, LED flash along with a secondary 120-degree wide-angle camera. One is a telephoto lens, while the other is 120-degree wide-angle camera. While the real-time portrait mode can take close-up shots and create bokeh effects, there's also a manual mode that allows users to adjust camera capture settings like ISO, white balance, exposure compensation, focus and shutter speed manually. The 12-megapixel lens also features Optical Image Stabilization which will help you click better pictures in dimly lit scenarios and record more stable clips.

It has always been clear that Asus can build great hardware. Although considering the hardware, we expect the phone to be an above average snapper.

The company also unveiled Zenfone Max (M1) and Max Plus (M1) at the event.
