Snapchat is taking inspiration from Instagram for its latest feature.

A few users, including actor Matt Rappaport, appear to have the feature already.

There will be a swipe-up "more" option that will show the tagged person's name, handle, Bitmoji, and an add button.

Snapchat has recently gone through the wringer after news broke that the company's stock price plummeted to an alarming new low, alongside the revelation that they have also laid off 100 employees.

In statements to TechCrunch, Snapchat says that it removed the GIF and temporarily halted its integration with Giphy "while we wait for Giphy's team to take a look at it", while Instagram say that it's done the same. Tagged users also won't know if you tag them in a Snap which, while isn't a big deal, may lead to a negative response from users who promote privacy on apps like these.

If you tag someone in a post, you will get a notification saying that someone has 'mentioned you in their Story'.

Snapchat and Instagram have removed Giphy from their platforms, after the feature suggested an extremely racist GIF to users when they searched the word "crime".

The social network is trialling giving users the ability to tag other people in their Snapchat Stories.

Facebook was one of the first to allow users to tag other accounts in photos uploaded to the site.

Instagram added Snapchat-style Stories back in 2016, and now Snapchat has fired back with its own copycat manoeuvre.

Users can add multiple GIFs to their Snap and add the animated stickers to videos by pressing and holding on the sticker to pin it to something in their Snap.
