Black Ops is back!

In accordance with the long-running shooter series' yearly release schedule, it's developer Treyarch's turn to handle making the game after Sledgehammer Games' 2017 effort Call of Duty: WWII.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is set to be launched in 2018, it was announced by Activision and Treyarch this week.

After the reveal in May, fans will have to wait for 5 more months before they can get their hands on the game as the game will only be arriving on the 12th of October.

The good news for fans is that they at least know when they will be able to hear about "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4" next, and hopefully by then, more of the remaining unanswered questions will be resolved. They have also confirmed releases for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Not Black Ops IV, like you'd suspect.

According to industry experts, the company responsible for Call of Duty, Activision, has made a decision to release their new game to early October because they are "scared of Red Dead Redemption 2".

Here's the information from the 10K Form, which states: "We expect to release World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth and our latest Call of Duty game in the second half of 2018".

However, self-proclaimed "industry insider" Marcu Sellars, who seems to have been the first to leak news about "Black Ops 4", tweeted that there is already a company working on making the game compatible with Switch. The Switch version will support DLC, HD Rumble and motion controls.

Usually, the Call Of Duty series releases around the start of November, but moving to October 12th clearly is created to stay away from the 26th October release of Red Dead Redemption 2.
