FSU dropped three of its last four games, including a first-round exit at last week's ACC Tournament, but Leonard Hamilton's team did enough through the course of the season that they still made the field.

The victor will probably meet No. 1 seed Xavier (28-5) in the next round Sunday.

The Missouri Tigers are dancing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five seasons. UF (20-12, 11-7 SEC) will open its tournament run against either St. Bonaventure or UCLA on Thursday.

The Seminoles earned the No. 9 seed in the Midwest region and will face No. 8 seed Missouri at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Seminoles' selection into the 2018 NCAA Tournament rounds out the most successful decade of NCAA Tournament appearances for the Seminole men's basketball program. They pose an interesting matchup, since their biggest star Michael Porter Jr. was injured for all but two games in the regular season.

Florida State enters the NCAA Tournament with three players averaging in double figure scoring led by junior All-ACC Honorable Mention Terance Mann who leads the Seminoles in both scoring (a career-high 13.2 ppg) and rebounding (a career-high 5.7 rebounds per game). FSU lost to Xavier 91-66 in the second round of last year's tournament.

Over on the Missouri side, they're now 20-12 this year.

The Seminoles' seed is the fourth time they have been ninth or lower in the 64-team format.

But Notre Dame was among the first four teams knocked out by the selection committee and Louisville was eliminated even quicker.

The difference was Florida State's success against ranked and Quadrant 1 teams. Florida State finished with a similar record - 20-11 overall with a 9-9 mark in the ACC.

FSU had six victories over Quadrant 1 teams and the loss to Wake Forest was its only one to a team outside the top-100 on the RPI rankings.
