"It was extraordinary, I've never played in anything like that and an atmosphere like that was incredible".

He claims Oxlade-Chamberlain in particular has been impressive since quitting the Emirates.

With the Merseyside Derby on the horizon, former Arsenal teammates Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been discussing why they both swapped the bright lights of the London for the vibrant city of Liverpool.

The England global found the net for the second time against City this season at Anfield, having also scored from distance in Liverpool's 4-3 Premier League triumph back in January.

Liverpool fans have thanked Arsenal following a stunning performance by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the Champions League quarter final against Manchester City on Wednesday.

Jurgen Klopp says Oxlade-Chamberlain refused to blame Arsene Wenger. Going forward they are always a threat on the break and that is good for us because there will be times like against City when we don't see a lot of the ball and when we can break that is when we can hurt teams.

"Being in a different place can make things better".

Some might feel that the Ox was never settled in one position, others that he never did enough to make one position his own, others still that unfortunate injuries - including knee ligament damage which dogged his second and third seasons at the club - were the source of his stop-start progress. "I showed myself that if it's on more often I can keep doing it".

He always took things by himself and thought he could do more.

"There were a few runs I did in the first half where I broke the line and it was just the last man I didn't manage to get past or didn't get the shot off and it is those moments where I could have had a second goal or set someone up that I can work on".

"From the first day he was ready for hard work. It got us going and it would probably shake anyone up so you have to give fans credit for that".

Things got worse for City when Sadio Mane made it 3-0 to the Anfield outfit. He is an outstanding talent still and still has a lot of things to improve.

"That's what we were hoping for".

"That's all good [but] all players can improve and that's where he can improve of course as well".
